university journal

Hi

This is my very first blog ever.I'm a keen crafter so I wanted to share some of the things I've been doing with other crafters out there. My daughter has just gone to university so I made this memory journal for her. Inks and stamps are the things I like best, there is so much you can do with them. The journal is made of grey board and C4 white envelopes. I cut the grey board a little larger than the envelopes then covered with patterned paper (from a Debbi Moore CD-Rom). I stamped a flourish in black ink and various other background stamps to add interest. The main picture I used is one of my favourite stamps  by Paperbag Studios. I stamped out the word university then cut them up and stuck them on slightly crooked. The envelopes were sealed down, then a thin strip was cut off along the top, this makes a large pocket to put in photos and memorabilia. Patterned paper was used to cover the envelope then stamped and coloured with distress inks (can't do a project without using these inks!). I used manila tags on alot of the pages (like the one below) that enabled me to stamp and ink on one side and have lined paper on the reverse for writing down memories. The journal was held together using book rings then ribbons were tied on to finish.

I think I need to do another one next year!

Bye for now
